Objectives of the Course To give the knowledge and skills about the maintenance and cleaning of laboratory equipments. To give knowledge and skills for preparation solution in the laboratory. To give knowledge and skills about laboratory safety, personal precautions, detection of physical, chemical and biological risks and taking precautions for the establishment of a safe laboratory. To give knowledge and skills about work flow in medical laboratory
Contents of the Course Basic concepts of general chemistry, concentration units, solution preparation, laboratory applications. Laboratory hazard signs, Equipments designed for precautions of laboratory hazards, Biological safety cabinets, Laboratory uniform, Precautions for risks against eye, pinpricks, chemical, radioactive or infective materials spilled on body, Storage of chemicals, use and transfer of hazardous chemicals, Precautions against damage of spilled chemical materials, Precaution against fire and electrical hazards in the laboratory, Precautions against radioactive material hazards, Precautions against risks of natural disasters earthquake and flood, Precautions against bacteriological and viral spilled materials, Precautions against insects and rodents, Laboratory safety committee, Telephone network for hazards in the laboratory, Strategies for case emergency, Control list against chemical, physical and biological factors. Storage of patient data in computer, Approval of patient data, Patient reports, Maintenance of daily cleaning and order of work place,Control of kit, chemical, reactive and consumable materials, Control of media, slides and stains, Weekly, monthly and annual control of equipments, Disposal of microbiological waste, Explanation of urine (spot urine) and 24 hour urine sampling to patient, Explanation of feces and band sampling methods to patient, Acceptance of patient samples and barcoding, Transport of patient material to laboratory (normal/vacuum system), Blood, throat sampling from patient, Urine collection with catheter and urine collection from children, Transfer and barcoding of patient material.

# Learning Outcomes
1 Know concentration units and know to prepare of the solutions of different concentration units.
2 Know to calculate the pH of acid and base solutions and Know the properties of buffer solutions and calculate their pH.
3 At the end of this course students will have knowledge about before and after procedures of clinical samples ,
4 Has knowledge about regulation of working environment
5 organisation of work place, daily, monthly and annual control of equipments,
6 disposal of medical and microbiological waste, explanation of taking clinical sample to patients and acceptance of clinical samples and barcoding
