Objectives of the Course This course aims to teach different transportation modes and the concept of transportation planning. Data collection and analysis will be discussed and an example questionaire will be done. Class aims to teach basic concepts of four step modelling.
Contents of the Course Introduction, general information, History of transportation and birth of modern transportation planning, Transportation modes, Objectives of transportation planning, Mobility and accessibility, Transportation systems and land use, Surveys & Data collection techniques for transportation planning, A case study and evaluation of the results for survey & data collection techniques for transportation planning, Introduction to four step modelling (trip generation), Introduction to four step modelling (trip distribution), Introduction to four step modelling (mode choice), Introduction to four step modelling (trip assignment), Transportation management, Transportation and environment.
