Objectives of the Course Students will learn to identify materials on their building designs with security and code necessities. It is aimed to introduce students to new and actual materials that are used at interior design applications. Students will make researchs and presentations on given subjects ,in addition their ability on reasearching actual projects will develop.
Contents of the Course In the content of course , performance and application criterias of materials that are used in architecture and inteirior architecture will be studied.

1 Course introduction, definition of building materials, principles Homework-1: Research of 'wall,floor,ceiling' components
2 Advantages, examples and applications of materials used in construction; Engineer-architect's task Students will make research on staircase subject
3 The most important properties expected from materials
4 "Grouping of materials A- Grouping by location and purpose of use;      - Transparent materials, - detail materials, - protective materials B- Grouping according to shape change;      -Elastic, -plastic, - elastoplastic materials C- Grouping in terms of structure;      - physical structure, - chemical structure Students will make research on insulation materials
5 "Experiments of building materials Quality control experiments, benchmarking experiments, research and development experiments, " Homework-2: Students will make material research and presenatation.
6 Material wear and fatigue, safety stresses and reliability
