Objectives of the Course The students who succeeded in this course;*Will be able to design contemporary landscape schemes. *Will be able to apply their knowledge of the visual characteristics of individualplants. *Will understand and be able to apply issues related to ecology and sustainability in landscape design. *Will be able to understand and apply the issues related to the psychological effectsof planting within their designs. *Will understand and be able to create indigenous landscape designs.*Will understand the history of gardening / landscape design in Anatolia. *Will use the concepts that are thought in the course and will demonstrate thoseideas with model, board presentation and portfolio. *Will learn field related competencies such as, detail drawing, budgeting, preparingmaterial boards, presentation files.
Contents of the Course To introduce landscape design and its signifigance in interior architecture andarchitecture.To give an understanding of the process of landscape design. This includesthe basic principles of planting design including how to design and define a space usinglandscape elements.To examine the psychological and sensual affects of plants.To makestudents familiar with indigenous garden design.To introduce the history of gardening/landscape design in Anatolia.To make students familiar with important ecological andsustainability issues related tolandscape design.

Students mustalso bring to the following class an A3print out of this presentation. This will bepart of an A3 work/sketch book showingthe development of your project
2 A.Landscape design principles 1: Introduction to plant materials B.A brief historyof gardening. C.Student presentation (H1) and discussion of project. Homework 2 : 1 powerpoint presentation.showing inspiration sources and conceptfor landscape design. Students mustalso bring to the following class an A3 print out of this presentation. This will bepart of an A3 work/sketch book showingthe development of your project.
3 A.Landscape design principles 2: Hard surface materials used in landscapedesign B.A presentation of the history of Turkish gardens. C.Studentpresentation (H2)and discussion of project. Final decision on site. Homework 3 : 1 powerpoint presentation.showing planting and hard surfacematerials for landscape design. Students must also bring to the followingclass an A3 print out of this presentation.This will be part of an A3 work/sketchbook showing the development of yourproject.
