Objectives of the Course An examination of the effects of natural, artificial, social, cultural and economic circles in the cities on identity formation. Evaluation of spaces and spaces in different scales and sizes in the context of urban identity. Examining the scientific debates and theories about the process of urban image and urban identity formation and change. Questioning the effects of the dynamics of urban space production on the urban identity.
Contents of the Course Concepts of city, urban image, urban identity and related theoretical approaches. Urban imagery and the basic elements that determine it: path, edge, district, node, landmark. The relationship between buildings-open spaces-green spaces in the context of urban space identity, and relations-patterns. Continuity between constructions and outdoor spaces, grading and scale changes. Urban texture: urban landscape, building blocks, urban space. Concept of public space and original environment. Concepts and theories of urban and environmental design: perceptual, visual and contextual concepts. Concepts and approaches related to shape and space: new design concepts. A general evaluation and discussion.

Learning Outcomes of Course

# Learning Outcomes
1 Conceptual and theoretical knowledge about urban space identity is obtained.
2 The conceptual and theoretical knowledge about the urban image and the basic elements (paths, edges, districts, landmarks, nodes) that determine it are acquired.
3 Information on the methods that can be followed in research to determine users' spatial identity perception is obtained.
4 Application skills are gained in how the results of user research for spatial identity perception can be reflected in landscape designs.
5 Spatial knowledge about the formations of experiences of cities in relation to urban identity are revealed in historical periods.
