Objectives of the Course Purpose: To educate the students as technical personnel, who have knowledge about the the working principles of the devices used in radiotherapy treatment, who know administer the radiotherapy treatment.
Contents of the Course Content: Radiation Oncology science, physics of radiation oncology, clinical applications of radiotherapy, the working principles of the devices, administer the radiotherapy treatment, the effects of radiation and radiation protection will be explained. They will be informed about how to approach the patient and how to be guided.

3 3- Administers the radiotherapy treatment prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist.

5 5-Can inform the patient about radiation safety and can communicate well with the patient.

1 1st week: Introduction to Radiation Oncology: Basic concepts, radiotherapy physics. Lecture, discussion
2 2nd week: Simulation Technique 1: Introduction to simulation, definitions. Lecture, discussion
3 3rd week: Simulation Technique 2. Lecture, discussion
4 4th week: Radiotherapy Devices: Conventional simulator device. Lecture, discussion
5 5th week: Radiotherapy Devices: Computerized tomography simulator. Lecture, discussion
6 6th week: Radiotherapy Devices: Cobalt 60 teletherapy unit. Lecture, discussion
7 7th week: Radiotherapy Devices: Linear accelerator. Lecture, discussion
8 8th week: Midterm exams.
9 9th week: Hybrid imaging systems in Nuclear Medicine 1: SPECT/CT: SPECT imaging techniques, working principles of the devices and their quality control. Lecture, discussion
10 10th week: Hybrid imaging systems in Nuclear Medicine 2: PET/CT: Working principles of the devices and their quality control. Lecture, discussion
11 11th week: Hybrid imaging systems in Nuclear Medicine 3: PET/CT: the radiopharmaceuticals used, patient preparation, imaging techniques and clinical indications. Lecture, discussion
12 12th week: Hybrid imaging systems in Nuclear Medicine 1: PET/MR: Working principles of the devices, the radiopharmaceuticals used, patient preparation, imaging techniques and clinical indications. Lecture, discussion
13 13th week: Clinical Oncology: Introduction to clinical oncology, tumours and metastases, dose calculation, treatment planning. Lecture, discussion
